October 1, 2010 (by Horatio Algren) According to reports the mother of a child that ate a pot laced brownie has been arrested for child endangerment.

The woman identified as Marisela Gadalupe Barraza age 19 of South San Francisco was arrested for child endangerment after she allowed her 4 year old daughter to eat a brownie containing marijuana.
According to Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe stated Barraza took her daughter to her sisters South San Francisco home on Sunday evening, where the sister noticed the child acting odd.

Barraza’s sister stated the 4 year old had slow speech, was acting strangely and had droopy eyelids.
Barraza when confronted by her sister about her daughter’s condition said the child had grabbed a brownie laced with marijuana to fast to stop her.

Barraza told police it was not her fault, the child grabbed the brownie. Then Barraza stated marijuana should be legal. According to Wagstaffe the mother and child spent Sunday night at the sister’s home and Monday Barraza went out.

After getting advice from a family member, in Barraza’s absence took the 4 year old to the hospital. Blood tests conducted on the child were positive for marijuana and police were called, according to Wagstaffe.
Barraza’s sister told police officers her sister was addicted to marijuana and has been irresponsible with the 4 year old girl in the past.
Barraza is being held in lieu of $7500 bail and Wednesday entered a plea of not guilty in San Mateo County Superior Court to a misdemeanor charge child endangerment. She has a Thursday court date.

Would you know what to do if you were bitten by a dog? San Francisco dog attack lawyers understand that most people do not and sadly when you, a child, or family member has been attacked, the dog bites you receive can often be deadly. Being attacked by a dog can be traumatic and in some cases is unavoidable, as well as unexpected. Any dog can be provoked to attack under the right circumstances, and this is even true of dogs that have the mannerisms of normally being very quiet and gentle.

One of the main medical expenses resulting from a dog bite attack is plastic surgery. The reason for this is that it has been reported that about 75% of the most common injuries that are received are on the face. If you are bitten by a dog in San Francisco you should report it to the police department and animal control immediately. Even if you think your injuries are small and medical attention is not needed, there is always the possibility of infection. Do not let it go just because you think the injury is a minor one and you expect no permanent damage. Any dog bite that you suffer should be reported no matter how small.

In California, the owner is responsible for the actions that are committed by their pets. Because of this the owner is also responsible for the injuries that are inflicted. This is true even when the dog is not known to be vicious or dangerous.

There are many injuries that can be sustained due to the attack of a dog. Some of these include:

Facial lacerations

Severe bleeding

Loss of fingers

Eye trauma

Infection

These are only a few of the injuries that may be encountered but will give you a general idea of how serious a dog bite can be. In many cases disfigurement is also a possibility and plastic surgery may be needed to repair the damage. This is a medical expense that can be very costly and time consuming, not to mention the pain and suffering involved.

As you can see dog bites can be deadly, and if you have been the victim of a dog bite attack you should receive compensation for your injuries. Contact a dog bite attack lawyer that specializes in getting compensation for victims of these attacks. These types of attorneys know what the laws are and know what your rights are. They will fight for your rights and get the compensation you deserve for your injuries and medical expenses as well as any other related expenses you may encounter as a result of a dog bite attack.

Motorcycle

It’s no secret that many people enjoy riding motorcycles but sometimes the wind in your face from riding may come at a great cost. In recent years motorcycle accidents have increased greatly and with that, so have the related injuries that occur during these crashes. Motorcycles are often used not only for transportation but also for enjoyment and sometimes the outcome of an accident can be deadly.

When you are involved in a collision on a motorcycle the chances are much higher that you are going to suffer from a variety of very serious bodily injuries even if you are wearing a helmet. The reason for this is that on a motorcycle you don’t have the level of protection that you have when you are in a car or other vehicle. The resulting injuries are often major and sometimes even life threatening.

Even at low speeds, motorcycle crashes can result in serious injuries, but the greater the speed the greater the risk. There are numerous injuries that a person can be expected to endure when they encounter an accident such as this.

Some of the injuries you might expect to sustain are facial lacerations, eye, head or facial trauma, broken or severed limbs, back injuries, and in some cases even death. And these are only some of the possibilities. The chances that you will escape with minor injuries during a motorcycle collision are slim. This is unfortunate, but it is often true. Some people even refer to motorcycles as death machines.

There are many causes of accidents when it comes to motorcycles and include road conditions, the condition of the bike, driver ability, and you have to worry about other motorists as well. Many times the other driver simply did not see the motorcycle and is often the case at night.

You shouldn’t have to suffer just because you choose a motorcycle instead of a car as your preferred mode of transportation. If you are involved in a motorcycle accident and sustain bodily injury due to the lack of another driver’s negligence, you should seek medical attention right away. Even minor injuries can be problematic if left untreated.

A professional personal injury attorney knows what steps to take to ensure you have good representation and your rights are protected. They will also be able to help with other things like referrals to counseling services if needed and speaking to witnesses of the accident.

Motorcycles can be great when the conditions are right and you don’t forget that the wind in your face may come at a great cost. Remember to always follow the proper safety measures. Speak to a San Francisco motorcycle lawyer now.
